As fortune would have it, thousands of years of human evolutionary murk, cultural dimness and self-flagellation lead us to this pivotal moment in musical history. To hearken Noise Arcade's 'Behind the Times' is as pleasant as enjoying a quaint glass of Chateau Mouton-Rothschild aboard the Lady Moura off Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. For the average person, "it sounds terrific". Through formless, consumptive, and profound sounds of intertwining and swarming keys, harmonies, and exquisite rhythms, the entire album, appropriately on magnetic tape recording, resembles Buxtehude's Prelude in G minor ringing through Palazzo Bocchi at twilight. Fans of Puccini, Verdi and Scriabin will thoroughly enjoy such a splendid album.
